Summary of Work:
Project consists of redevelopment of the site on the Northwest side of campus that was formerly the home of Kincannon Hall. The former building, basement, and foundations were removed as part of a separate construction contract.
Area of redevelopment is approximately 5.5 acres. Project includes site demolition not included in previous building removal, regrading, excavation for new building basements, and installation of rammed aggregate pier soil improvement beneath new building footprints. New site utilities will be distributed from campus services at boundary of site.
New buildings consist of two (2) - six (6) story residence halls of differing footprints housing a total of 657 new student beds. Residence Hall buildings total approximately 220,000 gross square feet. Lower levels consist of cast-in-place basement walls and columns supporting a posttensioned podium slab. Levels above consist of load bearing cold-formed metal stud walls, with primarily cold formed metal truss roofs, and limited areas of low-slope membrane roofs. Lower levels consist of administrative offices, building support and large community spaces. Upper levels consist of student bedrooms with a mix of traditional doubles with baths, singles with bath, and pod-style suites with shared baths. T his project will utilize a n ew 4 -pipe campus loop of hydronic heating and chilled water, brought to near the boundary of the site by others. All HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, fire alarm, and communication scopes as described in bid documents are included.
The third building, “Building D” is a small food service facility of approximately 2,900 gross square feet included as an Add Alternate. Base Bid consists of open landscaping at the area of the building.
